Continental Ranked Best OE Passenger Tire By J.D. Power and Associates StudyCHARLOTTE, NC., Aug. 25 /CNW-PRN/ - J.D. Power and Associates, the international marketing information firm (best known for its expertise in measuring customer satisfaction) recognized Continental as the best OE passenger tire in a study released this week. Continental tires led the overall ranking for passenger vehicles in the 1997 Original Equipment Tire Study, which looks at things like safety and traction, wearability, ride and special traction. ``Continental General Tire has invested more than $1 billion dollars in the past decade to ensure our tires are leaders in engineering design, safety and long life,'' said Bernd Frangenberg, President and C.E.O. ``We believe the J.D. Power and Associates study shows that our determination to produce the best tires in the world is being recognized where it matters -- with the customer.'' The just released J.D. Power and Associates study on Original Equipment Tire Satisfaction was based on the experiences of 15,700 consumers. Continental tires benefit from the research and development commitment of the company in both Europe and North America. Teams on both continents are working together to produce better products. Continental tires are original equipment on some of the world's most prestigious cars including Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi. Most recently the Continental tire was selected for the Lincoln Navigator, Ford Motor Company's new luxury sport utility vehicle. ``We have focused on improving our products and manufacturing processes to ensure Continental tires are of highest quality and competitively priced. Our future plans include new and even more exciting products, and an expanded marketing effort to build consumer awareness for the Continental and General brands,'' Frangenberg added. Continental General Tire Inc. is a major supplier of tires to the original equipment and replacement markets.
