American Commercial Industries Announces Key Executive AppointmentsTROY, Mich., Aug. 19 -- American Commercial Industries Inc. today announced the appointment of Lawrence J. O'Dowd to CEO; James Warren to CFO; Jan Owczarzak to director of finance; Rod Juve as director of sales and marketing; Joe Dyer as director of human resources; and Ed Frederick to chief engineer. "Our management team will implement strategies needed to position ACI as a leader in quality, delivery and expertise in the stamping industry," said George Hofmeister, chairman of the board and COO of American Commercial Industry's parent company, American Commercial Holdings. "The team's diversity in skills and experience will effectively guide the growth of the company." O'Dowd, who was promoted to CEO from president and COO of ACI, will oversee all facets of operations, including strategic development. Previously, O'Dowd served as a vice president with MascoTech Specialty Stamping from June 1984 to July 1995. Prior to joining MascoTech, he was general manager of the Development Engineering Division of Creative Industries from April 1979 to June 1984. O'Dowd will report directly to Hofmeister; Warren, Owczarzak, Juve, Dyer and Frederick will report to O'Dowd. As the company's CFO, Warren is responsible for treasury management functions, corporate development strategies and acquisition management. Before joining ACI in 1996, Warren worked as a corporate attorney for Arter & Hadden, providing consultation to corporate clients on merger/acquisition activities, legal due diligence and legal documentation. Juve is responsible for coordinating the company's overall sales efforts and expansion into new markets. Prior to joining ACI in May 1996, Juve was manager of sales and marketing for MascoTech Specialty Stamping. Juve has extensive experience in stamping as well as roll-forming and die casting. As director of finance, Owczarzak is responsible for monitoring the company's financial operations including cash management, budgeting, risk management, corporate reporting/consolidations, asset management and tax and financial planning. Owczarzak joined ACI in 1996. Previously, he was divisional controller for MascoTech Inc. from 1985 to 1996. Dyer is responsible for the coordination of all employee development and assistance programs for the company. Dyer's background in human resources spans 25 years, during which he worked in a variety of personnel-related positions for MascoTech, the United Stationers Supply Co., the Kroger Co., and the Ford Motor Co. As chief engineer, Frederick is responsible for process engineering and tooling activity at various divisions of the company. Prior to joining the ACI team in 1996, Frederick was the chief engineer at Specialty Stampings and an engineering manager at Paramount Engineering.
