Federal-Mogul Awarded Electric Diesel Fuel Priming Pump Contract from Cummins

    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Aug. 18 -- Federal-Mogul Corporation
will supply electric diesel fuel priming pumps to Cummins Heavy
Duty Engine Group, a division of the Automotive Business Unit of Cummins
Engine Co., Inc., beginning in 1998, announced Steven C. Feeny, Federal-Mogul
general manager, general products operations.  Cummins Engine Company,
headquartered in Columbus, Indiana, is the world's largest producer of diesel
engines above 200 horsepower.
    The electric diesel fuel priming pump will be used in the Signature 600
engine for the on-highway heavy duty truck market.  Production of the priming
pumps begins April 1, 1998 at Federal-Mogul's Logansport, Indiana
manufacturing facility.
    "The priming pump is a brand new application for Federal-Mogul developed
in our Logansport R&D Center to Cummins' specifications," said Feeny.  "This
is our fourth electric fuel pump application at Cummins and our first project
with the Heavy Duty Group.  We are very pleased to be expanding our fuel pump
business with Cummins Engine."
    The Federal-Mogul Logansport manufacturing facility produces electric fuel
pumps in many variations including:  turbine, gerotor, twin-impeller, roller
vane, rotary vane and solenoid pumps.  Federal-Mogul also manufactures
mechanical fuel pumps and lift pumps; and electrical fuel delivery modules and
hanger assemblies.  Federal-Mogul fuel system components are marketed under

customers.
