CYPRESS, Calif., Aug. 13 -- Coinciding with the arrival of
its new Chairman and Senior Chief Executive Officer Michio Yamashita,
Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America, Inc.'s (MMSA) newly appointed President and

appointments to the company's executive management team, strengthening its
board of directors and solidifying the leadership of its North American
operations.
Mr. Sonobe's newest role with MMSA follows an automotive career that spans
nearly 30 years, ranging from management positions within Mitsubishi Motors

overall business strategies in the North American market. Sonobe first became
a part of Mitsubishi Motors' U.S. operations in 1985.

Sonobe noted that the new Japanese executive appointments integrate
Japanese management instead of utilizing solely advisory roles and are in
addition to the roles of MMSA's senior American management team which includes

American operations and is in the process of further integrating its U.S.
subsidiaries. For example, Mr. Recchia currently serves on the Board of both
MMSA and MMMA, and will be further extending his own role to include
coordination of communications and public affairs activities for Mitsubishi
Motors' subsidiaries in the U.S. through a newly expanded MMA Washington
office.

operations have grown to include Mitsubishi Motors R & D of America, Inc.
