Navistar, UAW Reach Tentative Agreement to Restart Next Generation Truck, Keep Foundry OpenCHICAGO, Aug. 13 -- Navistar International Corporation and UAW leadership have reached tentative agreement on a master contract extension through October 31, 2002 that would enable the company to build its next generation truck (NGT) at Springfield and maintain production at its Indianapolis foundry. The agreement is subject to ratification by the UAW membership, which will be this weekend, and the company's board of directors must approve funding for the NGT program. The NGT program will be reviewed at the August board meeting with funding to be approved at the October meeting. Further information regarding the announcement will be available at a media conference call this afternoon, with details about the briefing to follow. The company also will have its regularly scheduled conference call with analysts tomorrow morning following the release of third quarter earnings.
