Steelworkers Approve Agreement at Dunlop Tire Corporation

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Aug. 7 -- Members of United Steelworkers of
America Local Union 915 here have ratified a new two-year, eight-month
agreement with Dunlop Tire Corporation. Approved in voting Wednesday, the
agreement follows the USWA's tire and rubber industry pattern set with
Goodyear earlier this year.
Provisions of the agreement -- among other significant improvements --
include:

-- An $4 increase in the defined benefit pensions to $41 per month per
year of service. (For example, a 30-year employee would retire with a
$1,230.) The contract was ratified by a 93 percent margin. Increase early
retirement pensions by $240 per month supplement to total of $340 supplement
for workers 55 or older with 30 or more years service.
-- A 35-cent general wage increase for all employees January 4, 1999. The
agreement maintains the cost of living allowance which provides for a
one-cent wage increase for every .26 increase in the Consumer Price Index.
-- Elimination of two-tier wage structure.
-- Bonus plan for all full-time hourly employees.
-- Bring contract expiration date or reopener date in line with USWA
Master Contract local unions; namely, April, 23, 2000.

Local 915's 1,550 members approved the contract by a 93 percent margin.
