Toyota's Chicago Region Posts Strong July SalesCHICAGO, Aug. 5 -- Toyota's Chicago Region car and truck sales for July were 6,175, a 13 percent increase over July's 1996 total of 5,463. North American-built Camrys and Corollas in July were up 13 percent and 8 percent, respectively, with sales of 2,469 and 1,291. RAV4 had its best month ever since its introduction in February 1996 with sales of 568, a 76 percent increase over the 323 sales in July 1996, Toyota 4Runner had sales of 577, an 87 percent gain over last July. "The RAV4 has exceeded our sales expectations, and the 4Runner is following its lead," said Dave Camden, general manager of Toyota's Chicago Region. "The top selling Camry and Corolla continue to provide the consumer with excellent values. July was a great month to purchase Toyota cars and sport utility vehicles and we are confident the sales momentum will continue."
