BMW Reports July Sales; Seven Month Total is Highest in Company's History
WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Aug. 4 -- BMW of North America, Inc.,
reported July retail sales of 10,769 automobiles and year-to-date sales of
73,170 to record the best seven-month sales total in the company's history.
BMW sales in the U.S. are 20 percent higher than the same period a year ago
(1997: 73,170; 1996: 60,788).
Continued strong demand throughout the BMW model line was highlighted by
an 11% increase in 5 Series sales over July 1996 figures. Year-to-date
7 Series sales are 15% ahead of comparable figures in 1996.
BMW of North America, Inc. and Land Rover North America, Inc. are members
of the BMW Group. Consolidated U.S. July sales for the two companies were
13,116 units (BMW: 10,769; Land Rover: 2,347), a four percent increase over
last year. Consolidated year-to-date sales were 86,893 vehicles (BMW: 73,170;
Land Rover: 13,723), a 19 percent increase over last year.
