Lear Corporation Enters Into Definitive Agreement to Acquire ITT Automotive Seat Sub-Systems UnitSOUTHFIELD, Mich., Aug. 4 -- Lear Corporation announced today that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire ITT Automotive's Seat Sub-Systems Unit, a North American supplier of power seat adjusters and power recliners. The ITT Automotive unit, a division of ITT Industries , which had 1996 sales to non-Lear facilities of approximately $115 million, has four plants at various locations throughout Michigan and Ontario, Canada. The unit employs approximately 1,000 people. The acquisition will enable Lear to integrate seat back technology with seat adjuster systems for the increasingly systems-intensive OEM automotive marketplace. "The acquisition of ITT Automotive's Seat Sub-Systems Unit will give Lear the opportunity to enhance quality for our seat system customers," said Kenneth L. Way, Chairman and CEO of Lear Corporation.
