Nissan Division Reports July Sales

    CARSON, Calif. Aug. 1 -_ The Nissan Division of Nissan Motor
Corporation U.S.A. (NMC) posted July sales of 53,921 units.  Calendar
year-to-date sales for Nissan Division totaled 413,198 units, up 4.2 percent
versus last calendar year.
    The Nissan Sentra turned in sales of 11,399 units, up 18.4 percent versus
prior year.  The Nissan Maxima posted sales of 10,249 units.  With Altima
sales of 10,123 units, total sedan sales were 31,771 units for the month.
    Nissan Truck reported sales of 11,236; Nissan Pathfinder reported sales of
5,805 units; and Quest posted sales of 2,922.  Combined July sales of the
Truck, Pathfinder and Quest were 19,963 units.  Calendar year-to-date sales
for Truck, Pathfinder and Quest were 145,908 units, a 9.5 percent increase
versus last calendar year.
    Sales of Nissan's North American-produced vehicles for July totaled
37,522, which represents 69.6 percent of all Nissan vehicles sold in the
United States.  Total NMC sales for July, including Nissan and Infiniti
Divisions, were 60,545 units.  Combined year-to-date sales for Nissan and
Infiniti Divisions were 450,305, up 5.7 percent.
    Nissan Motor Corporation U.S.A., which includes the Infiniti luxury
division, markets and distributes Nissan and Infiniti vehicles in the United
States to more than 1,200 retailers and dealers.
