Delphi Automotive's Delphi Chassis Systems division negotiated the agreement and will manage the operation. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. "This acquisition, together with our recent purchase of Fabryka Amortyzatorow S.A in Poland (1996 sales: $53 million), will help us increase our presence in the global suspension component business, particularly in Europe," said Delphi Chassis General Manager Alan S. Dawes. "Sodex is a well managed company with a high quality, lean, flexible manufacturing operation." Delphi Automotive Systems President J. T. Battenberg III said, "Sodex is Delphi's first acquisition in North Africa and our tenth new operation outside of North America in the past year. It provides us with another opportunity to profitably expand outside of our traditional GM North American customer base. Delphi is committed not only to following our customers wherever they might go in the world, but whenever possible, to being there when they arrive."
