MANN+HUMMEL Automotive is Honored with the 1996 General Motors Supplier of the Year Award

LUDWIGSBURG, Germany, July 30 -- MANN+HUMMEL Automotive was
selected for the fifth time to receive the GM Supplier of the Year Award.
Of the 30,000 General Motors suppliers evaluated, only 173
companies, or less than 1%, were chosen as the "best of the best" in
automotive supply.
The winning companies were chosen based on their performances in the areas
of quality, service and price. There is an ever increasing emphasis, however,
on less quantitative criterion such as development, innovation, logistics,
flexibility and even globalization efforts. Winning the prestigious award for
the fifth time is a definitive sign that MANN+HUMMEL is among the companies
that, as Harold R. Kutner, GM's Vice President for Worldwide Purchasing, said,
"are truly globally competitive and are worldwide leaders in the areas of
product development, technology, manufacturing, continuous improvement, value
and most importantly quality."
Gerhard Brenner, Managing Director of MANN+HUMMEL's Automotive Division
and MANN+HUMMEL board member, was presented the award on July 9, 1997 at the
companies World Headquarters in Ludwigsburg, Germany. The General Motors/Opel
representatives on hand to present the award included Freddy de Mulder,
Executive Director, Purchasing/Chemical Parts; Pedro Pedrosa, Manager,
Purchasing/Chemical Parts as well as Sven Lutz, Supplier Quality &
Development, Chemical Parts. Mr. de Mulder thanked everyone present for their
teamwork and stressed that, "only the combined efforts of all the MANN+HUMMEL
employees have enabled this success."
MANN+HUMMEL Automotive is a division of MANN+HUMMEL GmbH. With sales of
$800 million annually, MANN+HUMMEL GmbH is organized into two divisions,
automotive and industrial. The automotive division, which serves both the OEM
and aftermarket, manufacturers under-the-hood products including plastic
intake manifolds, air cleaners, resonators, air, oil, fuel, and cabin filters
and complete air induction systems. The company employs approximately 8,000
people and has 20 manufacturing/sales locations worldwide.
