Ford Automotive Products Operations Appoints Marketing and Sales ExecutiveDEARBORN, Mich., July 28 -- Ford Motor Company's Automotive Products Operations (APO) advanced its plan to increase worldwide sales with the appointment today of Craig H. Muhlhauser to the new position of executive director of Global Marketing and Sales. APO is the world's second-largest supplier of automotive systems and components. Muhlhauser joins APO from United Technologies in East Hartford, Conn., where he was senior vice president, Sales and Service for the Americas and senior vice president of Worldwide Aftermarket for Pratt & Whitney. He has also had executive-level responsibilities for worldwide sales and marketing at Lucas Industries, Ltd. and the General Electric Co. "Craig has the global business-to-business marketing expertise we need to help focus our $17 billion business on our customers, both within and outside of Ford," said Charlie Szuluk, group vice president of APO. "We're moving our organization from an internal cost-center at Ford Motor Company to a highly competitive self-funding profit center. Craig has the vision, energy and credentials to help ensure that our entire organization is geared to making our customers successful." Muhlhauser brings to APO a reputation for creating highly effective sales and marketing organizations for global business-to-business accounts and for achieving solid revenue growth. His successes in the intensely competitive aircraft engine industry have been rooted in a concentration on customer satisfaction and a talent for creating high performance work teams. "We are building a fast-moving automotive systems business based on entrepreneurial thinking, solid experience and a driving commitment to our customers," said Szuluk. "Craig is a key addition to our team." Born August 1948, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Muhlhauser holds bachelor's and master's degrees in engineering from the University of Cincinnati. Automotive Products Operations was formed on November 1, 1996. It operates 68 plants in 19 countries with 78,000 employees. In 1996, APO had sales revenues of more than $16.4 billion.
