Babik Named Vehicle Environment Director by AAMA

WASHINGTON, July 24 -- The American Automobile Manufacturers
Association (AAMA) has announced the appointment of Robert F. Babik as
Director of its Vehicle Environment Department.
Babik will be responsible for Association activities dealing with mobile
source emissions and air quality, including legislation, regulation, research
and inquiries from the general public.
"Bob's special talents make him a valuable addition to AAMA's leadership
as we work with government to address the challenges of environmental
stewardship," said AAMA President & CEO Andrew H. Card, Jr.
Babik has been with AAMA since 1993, most recently as a Regulatory Affairs
Manager with responsibility for Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio. Based in
Columbus, Ohio, he has handled regulatory issues of concern to America's Car
Companies, with special emphasis on environmental matters. In that capacity,
he has worked with AAMA's member companies, state regulatory officials,
agencies and business organizations to impact public policy and rules relating
to the environment.
Previously, he worked for Systech Environmental Corporation, a hazardous
waste management company, where he managed regulatory compliance functions as
well as issues concerning health and safety. Before that, he was employed by
the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency in both a technical and public
relations capacity. Born in Struthers, Ohio, Babik received a B.S. in
Chemical Engineering from Youngstown State University in 1987.
The appointment is effective August 1st. Babik succeeds Jerry Esper, who
joined Chrysler Corporation earlier this year.
AAMA is the trade association whose members are Chrysler Corporation,
Ford Motor Company and General Motors Corporation. Visit AAMA's site on the
