AIAG Announces 1997 Outstanding Achievement Award WinnersSOUTHFIELD, Mich., July 23 -- In acknowledgment of their participation and leadership in cooperative auto industry efforts, 17 individuals and two member companies have been selected to receive the 1997 Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) Outstanding Achievement Award. The awards will be presented at a dinner on Tuesday, August 26, 1997 at Detroit's Cobo Center, in conjunction with AIAG's annual AUTO-TECH Conference & Exposition. "These individuals and member companies, who have contributed their time and expertise to AIAG, are helping to ensure the success and competitiveness of the North American automotive industry," said AIAG Executive Director Thomas S. Hoy, on loan from General Motors Corporation. "Selected by their peers, the award winners are being recognized for their dedication in supporting AIAG activities." AIAG member companies receiving the 1997 Outstanding Achievement Awards are Dana Corporation, based in Toledo, Ohio, and Johnson Controls, Inc., based in Plymouth, Mich. Volunteers receiving awards for their individual efforts to the AIAG are: * Larry W. Werner System Engineer, Robert Bosch Corp. According to Hoy, the AIAG has awarded more than 200 Outstanding Achievement Awards since the recognition program was initiated in 1987. Charles W. Szuluk, group vice president of Ford Motor Company Automotive Products Operations, will be the featured speaker at the AIAG Outstanding Achievement Awards Dinner. He will address the importance of working together as an industry on pre-competitive issues to eliminate waste, streamline business processes and improve global productivity. Szuluk also will honor the thousands of volunteers who meet each month through more than 50 AIAG work groups to address auto industry issues and initiatives. Founded in 1982, AIAG is a not-for-profit trade association of more than 1,300 North American auto and truck manufacturers and their suppliers.
