Simpson Industries Names New Chief Financial Officer

    PLYMOUTH, Mich., July 18 -- Simpson Industries
today announced Vinod M. Khilnani has been named Vice President, Chief
Financial Officer & Treasurer effective July 16, 1997.
    Mr. Khilnani, age 44, has most recently been Vice President and Chief
Financial Officer at Dayton Superior Corporation in Miamisburg, Ohio.
    "As we embark on an aggressive global growth strategy, we look forward to
Vinod's vision and leadership in directing our financial organization," said
Roy E. Parrott, President and Chief Executive Officer.  "His background
includes both domestic and international assignments and his earlier role as
Finance Director for Holset Engineering Co., Limited means he is familiar with
our Vibration Attenuation acquisition."
    Mr. Khilnani began his career with Cummins Engine Company as a
financial analyst.  Progressively responsible assignments at Cummins included
Executive Director-Finance for the Power Generation Group and as Vice
President, Finance/MIS for Onan Corporation, a $600 million wholly owned
subsidiary of Cummins.  Before leaving Cummins in 1996, he was Executive
Director, Treasury and Investment Evaluation where he was responsible for
treasury operations and coordinating all acquisitions and divestitures
worldwide.
    He received an M.S. in Economics from Delhi University, India, and an
M.B.A. in Finance from the State University of New York.  He is both a C.P.A.
and a C.M.A.
    Simpson Industries supplies powertrain and chassis products to original
equipment manufacturers in the automotive and medium and heavy duty engine
markets.  Simpson's products are focused in four groups: noise, vibration and
harshness; wheel-end and suspension; modular engine assemblies; and high-
precision machined components.  Simpson's manufacturing units are located in
the United States, Canada, Mexico and Brazil.  European and Asian operations
are located in England, France, Spain and Korea.
