Hayes Wheels Issues $150 Million in Senior Subordinated Notes

    ROMULUS, Mich., July 18 -- Hayes Wheels International, Inc.
announced today that it has agreed to issue $150 million in
9-1/8 percent senior subordinated notes due 2007.
    The issuance of these notes is subsequent to the $250 million in
9-1/8 percent senior subordinated notes issued last month to partially finance
the company's acquisition of Lemmerz Holding GmbH, Europe's leading wheel
manufacturer.  The Lemmerz acquisition closed on June 30.
    CIBC Wood Gundy Securities Corp. and Merrill Lynch & Co. acted as co-lead
managers for the offering, which was issued pursuant to Rule 144A.
    Hayes Wheels International is a world leader in the design, engineering
and manufacture of steel and aluminum wheels and brake drums and rotors for
the automotive and commercial highway markets in North America, Europe and
Asia.
