Next Century's Leaders to Introduce Next Century's Vehicles, Announces Electric Vehicle Association of the Americas

Henry Ford's Great Grandson and Robert F. Kennedy's Son Chosen
As Keynote Speakers for International Electric Vehicle Symposium

DETROIT, July 14 -- The Electric Vehicle Association of the
Americas (EVAA) has announced that William Clay Ford, Jr. and Robert F.
Kennedy, Jr., have been chosen as opening and closing speakers for the 14th
International Electric Vehicle Symposium (EVS-14) December 11-17, 1997 in
Orlando, Florida.
The announcement was made by Bob Hayden, executive director of EVAA, at an
Automotive Press Association luncheon. Electric vehicle (EV) program managers
and directors for Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Nissan and Toyota
were present to discuss the state of the EV industry and the importance of
attending EVS-14. The EVAA will hold a similar luncheon with the Washington
Automotive Press Association at the National Press Club, September 17.
"William Clay Ford, Jr.'s position on Ford Motor Company's Board of
Directors as the overseer of environmental and public policy brings the
automaker's top proponent of environmental stewardship to the conference,"
says Hayden. "In addition, Robert Kennedy's reputation as an environmental
leader only serves to highlight the importance of EVS-14."
EVS-14 will bring together more than 2,000 top EV experts from around the
world to discuss automotive design and technology advancements, infrastructure
development and solutions to commercialization issues. In addition to the
three-day symposium, this year's event will include a 32-vehicle EV parade,
public days at the exposition hall and a media day on December 12.
