Chrysler Financial Earnings Announcement

    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., July 11 -- Thomas W. Sidlik, Chairman of
Chrysler Financial Corporation (CFC), today announced the company achieved its
highest quarterly pretax earnings ever during the second quarter of 1997.
Pretax earnings were $156 million, up from last year's second quarter, and an
11 percent increase over the pretax earnings in the first quarter of 1997.
    The company also posted record net earnings of $103 million for the second
quarter of 1997, also up from last year's second quarter, and an 11 percent
increase over the net earnings in the first quarter of 1997.
