Selas Forms UK Subsidiary to Serve British Steel Industry

    DRESHER, Pa., July 9 -- Selas Corporation of America
(AMEX: SLS) announced today that it has formed a subsidiary company, Selas
Engineering UK Ltd., in response to growing activity in Great Britain for its
heat technology engineering and product lines.  The new unit is located in
Belper, Derbyshire.
    Stephen F. Ryan, president and chief executive officer of Selas, said that
the move puts Selas closer to its customers in Great Britain.
    Ryan said that the management and engineering team at the new subsidiary
have broad experience and knowledge of the steel and metallurgical industry in
Britain.  Many of them come from a previous agent for Selas in the UK, and
from Priest Furnaces.
    Selas Engineering UK will be directly involved with sales and contract
fulfillment in the UK while the majority of the basic engineering on these
orders will continue to be performed at the Engineering Center of Selas SA in
Gennevilliers, France, Ryan said.
    Selas Engineering UK Ltd. is located at Suite 5L, Business Centre, North
Mill, Bridgefoot, Belper, Derbyshire, DE 56 1YD.
