Colliver Named Executive Vice President and Board Member of American Honda

    TORRANCE, Calif., July 9 -- Richard "Dick" Colliver has been
promoted to Executive Vice President and named a member of the Board of
Directors of American Honda Motor Co., Inc., the company announced today.
    Colliver retains his position as head of the Honda Automobile Division,
responsible for sales, regional advertising and marketing, market
representation, and product and sales information.  He was formerly the
Division's senior vice president.  Honda Division 1996 sales of 735,920 set an
all-time record and 1997 sales are on a pace to surpass that mark.
    Prior to joining Honda, Colliver worked in various sales and marketing
positions during a 33-year automotive career including executive assignments
in distribution, parts, business planning, wholesale and retail placement and
feasibility analysis for new product lines.
