Kautex Textron Selected as 'Best of the Best' Among General Motors 30,000 Suppliers Worldwide

    TROY, Mich., July 9 -- As the world's largest producer of
plastic fuel tank systems, Kautex Textron, Bonn, Germany, is among 173
suppliers from 26 countries to win the 1996 GM Supplier of the Year award.
The winning companies were selected from a GM supplier base consisting of over
30,000 firms worldwide for exceeding specific performance standards in
quality, service and price.
    "Suppliers recognized as GM's Supplier of the Year demonstrated throughout
1996 that they are the 'Best of the Best' in their respective businesses,"
said Harold R. Kutner, GM's Vice President for Worldwide Purchasing.
    "The achievement of this eminent award reaffirms our continuous stride to
exceed customer expectations," stated John A. Janitz, Chairman, President and
CEO of Textron Automotive Company.  "The bar is raised every year by the
O.E.M.'s and to be recognized as the best in the world in the eyes of General

    Since the expansion of the GM Supplier of the Year awards program
internationally in l992, Kautex Textron, a division of Textron Automotive
Company, has been honored three times with this prestigious award.  The award
was represented to Kautex Textron Bonn Facility in a honor ceremony on
June 30, 1997.
