Tenneco Names Browne To Head Tenneco Tax UnitGREENWICH, Conn., July 8 -- Tenneco announced today that it has named James R. Browne as executive director of its Tax unit, where he will be responsible for Tenneco's overall corporate tax strategy and tax policy. This involves responsibility for managing the company's tax exposure and directing all areas of tax activities, including compliance, international, planning and legal aspects. Browne, replaces Robert G. Simpson, who was named general manager of the company's shared services organization, Tenneco Business Services. Browne joined the company in November 1991 as director of Tax Legal. His previous experience was as a partner of Kirkland & Ellis in Chicago, and on the tax and audit staff of Arthur Andersen in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He holds has a B.B.A. in accounting from the University of Michigan and a J.D. from Vanderbilt University School of Law. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of both the Illinois and Texas bar associations.
