Tenneco Names Simpson Head Of Tenneco Business ServicesGREENWICH, Conn., July 8 -- Tenneco today named Robert G. Simpson as general manager of the company's shared services organization, Tenneco Business Services. Simpson, 45, a corporate vice president, has been responsible for Tenneco's Tax Department since 1990. He replaces Matthew W. Appel, who has resigned as president of the unit but who will remain with the organization on a consulting basis through the end of the year. Before joining Tenneco, Simpson was a tax attorney with Dart & Kraft, a tax counselor with Draft, Inc., and a director of federal taxes for Philip Morris Management Company. He holds an accounting degree from Indiana University and a J.D. from the University of Illinois law school. He is a CPA and a member of the Illinois bar association. Tenneco Business Services, based in the Woodlands, Tex., employs 350 people and handles administrative functions for all of Tenneco including accounting, accounts payable, tax, payroll, employee benefits administration, information services, employee health and safety, and supplier development.
