Bowes Named Intermet Director of Sales

    DETROIT, July 8 -- Intermet Corporation today
announced that Tim Bowes has rejoined the company in the position of director
of sales responsible for the Ford Motor Company account.  He also directs the
Asian and European NAM accounts.
    Bowes comes to Intermet from ITT Automotive where he was sales manager for
the electrical business unit.  Previously, he held a number of sales and
marketing positions at Intermet.  Bowes received a B.S. degree in industrial
management from Lawrence Technological University and an M.B.A. in
international business from Wayne State University.
    Detroit-based Intermet Corporation and its subsidiaries design and
manufacture precision iron and aluminum castings for automotive and industrial
equipment manufacturers worldwide, produce precision machined components,
cranes and specialty service vehicles, and provide custom coating
applications.  Intermet has more than 6,400 employees at twenty-three
operating locations in North America and Europe.
