Audi Sales Continue Upwards Best June Performance and Best First Half in a Decade

    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., July 3 -- Audi of America, Inc. reported
U.S. sales of 3,224 for the month of June, representing a 48.2 percent
increase over the same month last year when sales were 2,176.
    It was Audi's best June and best first half sales results since 1987.
Audi has demonstrated this kind of year-over-previous-year sales increase for
30 of the last 31 months.
    Strong sales of the 1997 A4 1.8 Turbo, introduced this past Fall, helped
Audi achieve a 63.3 percent increase over last year's June A4 sales.  A6 sales
increased 14.4 percent over a year ago with its innovative A6 quattro wagon
making up 45.6 percent of those sold this month.
    So far in 1997, Audi has sold 17,019 automobiles representing a 34 percent
increase over the same period last year when the total was 12,702.
