BMW Reports June Sales

BMW Reports Best First-Half Sales Ever; Year-to-Date Sales Up 25 Percent
WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., July 2 -- BMW of North America, Inc.,
continuing its strong sales streak, reported a year-to-date sales increase of
25 percent, from 50,014 to 62,401 vehicles in 1997 for the best first-half
ever. BMW also reported June sales of 11,035 vehicles, making it the best
June to date.
Demand for BMW's popular 5 Series models continues to be strong, with a
30 percent increase in sales reported over last June and sales of Z3 roadsters
increased 12 percent over last year.
BMW of North America, Inc. and Land Rover North America, Inc. are members
of the BMW Group. Consolidated U.S. June sales for the two companies were
13,743 units, a 7 percent increase over last year (BMW: 11,035; Land Rover:
2,708) and consolidated year-to-date sales were 73,777 vehicles, a 22 percent
increase over last year (BMW: 62,401; Land Rover: 11,376).
