Nissan Division Announces June Sales

Nissan Division June Sales Up 8.5 Percent; Increase Driven by Strong Sedan Sales
CARSON, Calif., July 1 -_ The Nissan Division of Nissan Motor
Corporation U.S.A. (NMC) posted June sales of 61,876 units, up 8.5 percent
versus the same period last year. Calendar year-to-date sales for Nissan
Division totaled 359,277 units, up 7.9 percent versus last calendar year.
The Nissan Altima luxury sedan posted strong sales of 18,417 units, up
27.8 percent versus prior year. The Nissan Sentra turned in sales of 11,147
units, up 23.6 percent versus prior year. With sales of 9,819 units, Maxima
was up 5.8 percent, bringing total sedan sales to 39,383 for the month, up
20.4 percent.
Nissan Pathfinder reported sales of 6,056 units for a 12.8 percent
increase over last year, while Nissan Truck reported sales of 11,302, up 7
percent over last year. Combined June sales of the Truck, Pathfinder and
Quest were 20,402 units. Calendar year-to-date sales for Truck, Pathfinder
and Quest were 125,945 units, a 16.2 percent increase versus last calendar
year.
Sales of Nissan's North American-produced vehicles for June totaled
45,633, which represents 73.7 percent of all Nissan vehicles sold in the
United States. Total NMC sales for June, including Nissan and Infiniti
Divisions, were 66,705 units, an 11 percent increase over June 1996. Also
posting an increase were Nissan and Infiniti Divisions combined year-to-date
sales, up 8.6 percent with 389,760 units sold.
Nissan Motor Corporation U.S.A., which includes the Infiniti luxury
division, markets and distributes Nissan and Infiniti vehicles in the United
States to more than 1,200 retailers and dealers.
