American Honda Sales Up 8.9 Percent for June; Acura CL Sets All-Time Sales RecordTORRANCE, Calif., July 1 -- American Honda June sales of 79,382 vehicles increased 8.9 percent from last year due to continuing strong sales of the Acura CL Coupe and Honda CR-V. The Acura CL Series had its best month ever since its introduction in March '96 with sales of 2,747. The Acura Integra also posted an increase of 12.5 percent over year ago levels with sales of 4,227. Acura Division year- to-date sales of 53,367 are up 3.9 percent from last year. "The U.S.-made Acura CL is the best-selling luxury sports coupe in the country," said Rich Thomas, executive vice president and general manager of Acura Division. "Our East Liberty, Ohio plant just built its one millionth vehicle and appropriately, it was an Acura CL." Led by an 18.2 percent increase in Civic sales of 28,101, and CR-V sales of 5,742, Honda Division year-to-date sales of 69,590 were up 9.9 percent. Prelude sales of 1,536 were up 19.9 percent. American Honda year-to-date sales of 442,996, are up 5.4 percent from last year.
