Exide Corporation & Checker/Shucks/Kragen (CSK, Auto) Team Up on NASCAR Select Starters and Alternators

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich., July 1 -- Exide Corporation
announced today that they have teamed up with long time partner
Checker/Schucks/Kragen (CSK) to launch a new line of officially licensed
NASCAR Select Starters and Alternators.
Exide Corporation, the official NASCAR licensee for batteries,
remanufactured starters and alternators announced a new marketing partnership
with the highly respected CSK organization of Phoenix, Arizona. This
partnership will focus on aggressive marketing for a new, premium line of
NASCAR Select electrical products.
CSK is one of America's leading aftermarket retail chains with store
operations spanning the west coast from Washington to California with a
further major presence in Arizona, Utah and Colorado. Exide has been a
supplier of batteries, cables, accessories and chargers to CSK for some time.
This new partnership, however, will represent the first co-marketing effort on
starters and alternators between the two companies.
"CSK is one of the cornerstones of our aftermarket sales strategy," stated
Doug Pearson, Exide's President North American Operations. "We are truly
delighted to extend our supply arrangement into NASCAR Select Starters and
Alternators, beyond the NASCAR Select Battery Program which we launched some
sixty days ago."
In addition to CSK, Exide will expand its distribution through other
retailers including HILO Auto Parts, Champion Auto Stores and others. This
important new partnership with CSK will broaden our geographic availability
under the Exide NASCAR Select brand.
Exide Corporation, the world's leading manufacturer of starting, lighting
and ignition ("SLI") batteries and industrial batteries, is headquartered in
Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, with administrative offices in Reading,
Pennsylvania as well as France, Spain and the UK. Exide is traded on the New
York Stock Exchange under the symbol "EX."
