AMEX to Trade Options on Hertz Corporation

    NEW YORK, May 5 -- The American Stock Exchange today
announced it will trade options on the listed stock of Hertz Corporation
(stock/option symbol: HRZ) beginning Friday, May 9.
    Hertz Corporation, based in Park Ridge, New Jersey, rents and leases cars
and rents industrial and construction equipment through offices around the
world.  The company also provides self-insurance operations, car leasing
operations in certain markets, used cars and equipment sales, third party
claim management services and telecommunications services in the United
States.
    HRZ will open with strike prices of 25, 30 and 35, with position limits of
4,500 contracts.  Initial expiration months will be June, July, September and
December of 1997.  Group One Trading L.P. will be the specialist unit for the
new options.
    The AMEX is a leader in listing warrants on foreign currencies and indexes
as well as on hybrid debt instruments and other structured products.  In
addition, the AMEX trades options on 27 broad-based and sector indexes and
767 stocks, including 331 over-the-counter stocks, 34 American Depositary
Receipts (ADRs) and 73 Long-term AnticiPation Securities (LEAPS(R)).
