Buick Announces Women's Career Development Promotion at Auto Show

7 February 1997

Buick Teams with National Association for Female Executives at Chicago Auto Show to Promote Women's Career Development

FLINT, Mich., Feb. 6 -- Buick Motor Division is partnering
with the National Association for Female Executives (NAFE), an organization
which promotes women's success and career development in the workplace, to
host a unique event focusing on top female executives in the Chicago area and
encouraging women to attend "Ladies Day" Feb. 11 at the Chicago Auto Show.
NAFE President and CEO Rebecca Darwin, as well as 50 other top female
executives from the Chicago area, will be hosted by Buick representatives at a
VIP event the evening of Feb. 11. The event will begin with dinner at the
Drake Hotel and a keynote speech on "Getting Your Career in Gear".
Immediately following, attendees will be bused to the auto show and escorted
to the Buick exhibit where product specialists and Buick executives will be
present to answer questions related to Buick products and vehicle purchase.
"Buick recognizes a growing market for women in the automotive industry,"
said Dave Lyons, Buick's affinity marketing manager. "Through this
relationship with NAFE we are able to reach out to these women and find unique
ways to meet their needs, such as this special event in conjunction with the
Chicago auto show."
In addition to the VIP event, NAFE staff members will be at the Buick
exhibit on Feb. 11 passing out NAFE's Executive Female publication and
membership applications. Buick Park Avenue, Riviera and Regal ads, which have
recently appeared in Executive Female, will be displayed in poster size at the
exhibit.
A mailing will also go out to more than 6,000 NAFE members in the Chicago
area including a letter from Darwin promoting the auto show and complimentary
auto show tickets from local area Buick dealers.
In October Buick and NAFE announced an exclusive partnership through which
Buick will make a donation to NAFE's "Esteem Team" program for every Buick
purchased during designated promotional programs through 1998. In return,
Buick has been named Official Car of the NAFE Women's Foundation.
NAFE is the largest businesswomen's organization in the United States.
Founded in 1972, NAFE provides resources and services -- through education,
networking and public advocacy -- to empower its members to achieve career
success and financial security. With member benefits including the award-
winning publication Executive Female, insurance and financial planning
programs, career development events and many corporate and travel discounts,
NAFE members have the tools necessary to be successful in the workplace. NAFE
has more than 200,000 members and 200 local chapters across the United States.
