Mark Martin's pole today for the Goodwrench Service 200 is the
2nd pole he has claimed at North Carolina Motor Speedway, the first
comimg in 1989. The 1989 pole came on his first visit to NCMS.
The pole represents the 14th of his Busch career. The last Busch Series
pole he earned was at Atlanta last spring.
Martin drives the Winn-Dixie Ford owned by Jack Roush in a limited
schedule - even so - he has been the most successful driver
on the Busch Series with 13 wins over the last 3 seasons in only 44
starts. In 1993 Mark won 7 of the 14 races he entered.
Rockingham has been one of Martin's best tracks - he has won 4 of the
last 6 races he has run at NCMS.
