Jeff Green has rebounded from a very slow start to the 1996 season to capture the pole for Saturday's running of the Dura-Lube 200 Presented by Pep Boys.
Green's speed of 166.337mph breaks the qualifying record set by Tim Fedewa (162.905mph) set last spring. The pole is Green's third career pole on the Busch Series - the last coming last year summer at Myrtle Beach.
It's not surprising to see Mark Martin post a top-2 qualifying time given is success at Darlington. Martin is tied with Harry Gant with with the most Busch wins (4 apiece) at the track "Too Tough To Tame". Martin also has 3 Darlington poles to his credit.
5 Busch races at Darlington have been won from the pole and 6 have been won from the second position.
