DALE JARRETT -88- Quality Care/Ford Credit Thunderbird - Qualified 7th.
ERNIE IRVAN -28- Texaco/Havoline Thunderbird- Qualified 16thYOU RAN FIFTH-FASTEST BEFORE YOU CRASHED... "Then driver got stupid and lost it coming out of four. I felt like I had a pretty good lap going there and I just got loose off the corner and I thought I could drive it past the line and be OK. But it came around and I was just trying to miss the end of the pit wall. I really didn't accomplish anything I went out there to do. I ran a decent lap, but that's not saying much since we'll have to start last come Sunday. The backup is a good car -- it's the one that finished second at Rockingham that we're bringing out, but the one we wrecked is the one we ran so well with at Darlington last week. We'll see if we can't come from last to first come Sunday."
BILL ELLIOTT -94- McDonald's Thunderbird - Qualified 42nd"I think that's OK, but we bottomed out a bunch. We've been fighting that."
KENNY WALLACE -81- Square D/TIC Financial -- Qualified 10th"That's the worst we've run. It's just too tight."
RUSTY WALLACE -2- Miller Thunderbird - Qualified 11th"Yesssss! I'm really excited with that. Craven and Nemechek had been good in practice and that's better than either of them, so I'm pretty doggone happy. That's a pretty decent time."
MORGAN SHEPHERD -75- Remington Arms Thunderbird - Qualified 18th"That was not a good run like I wanted. I ran like a .62 in practice and that just got me -- My car is way too tight. I don't know what the deal was. Maybe we ran too low air pressure or something. I don't like this tire. I haven't liked this tire since we ran it here or Darlington. They're going to have to work on that."
JIMMY SPENCER -23- Smokin' Joe's Thunderbird - Qualified 18th"We should have done a block-off run earlier. We didn't use a set of tires. We adjusted with old tires and I had it too tight for qualifying.
DERRIKE COPE -12- Straight Arrow Thunderbird - Qualified 17th"I'd like to be able to pit on the front. As always, I'm excited about Bristol. I love this place.
RICKY RUDD -10- Tide Thunderbird - Qualified 9th"That second lap was pretty eventful. We were pushing really bad the first lap and I tried to go in a little easier the second lap and not go up the race track and when I jumped on the throttle, it just broke loose and I had my hands full.
HUT STRICKLIN -8- Circuit City Thunderbird - Qualified 14th"It pushed on me. I had a better lap going than that. Our qualifying efforts have been pretty bad all year. But we went back and talked about it a lot. Richard worked on the car. We were capable of a third or fourth place run here today, but we didn't get it. But at least we're headed in the right direction."
"That's a tenth better than we practiced. We'd been tight, and when it felt good on the first lap, I decided to go ahead and stick it on in there on the second lap to see what would happen -- and it didn't happen."
