Wilmington, Delaware - MBNA America - the nation’s leading bank in support of motor racing and hot rodding has thrown their hat into the Goodguys Vintage Drag Racing Association Series of events. Endorsed by MBNA’s Motorsports Manager Dave Elgina, the "MBNA Double Bucks Bonus" program will offer double the winner’s purse for two of the 12 Goodguys/VRA Drag Racing classes. Both Professional racers and Sportsman racers will reap the benefits from the new program and it marks the first time in history the Goodguys Nostalgia drag racing competitors have received an offering from Corporate America.

Prior to Sunday's eliminations at each of the 2001 Goodguys West Coast Series Drag Racing events and the annual Hot Rod Nationals in Indy, a random drawing will be held to determine which Pro and Sportsman classes will race for the *MBNA Double Bucks* bonus. Pro classes will include Top Fuel, A/Fuel, Junior Fuel, Pro-Supercharged, A/GAS (7.60) and Nostalgia Eliminator (7.60). Sportsman classes will include (N/E 2 & 3, B/GAS, C/GAS, Hot Rod Eliminator and Street Machine Eliminator.

To Illustrate: If the posted class winner’s purse is $1,000 - MBNA will add an additional $1,000 and that class winner will go home with $2,000.

The 2001 Goodguys West Coast Championship Series events include the 42nd March Meet, March 9-11 at Bakersfield’s Famoso Raceway, the 13th Nitro Nationals April 21 & 22 at Sonoma’s Sears Point Raceway, the 1st Spring Nitro Classic, May 5 & 6 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the 12th Fall Classic September 8 & 9 at Sears Point and the season concludes with the 2nd Fuel & Gas Finals at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
