MIAMI- Team Menard driver and 1999 Indy Racing champion Greg Ray was injured in a testing accident at the Homestead-Miami Speedway, shortly after 3:10 p.m. Monday.

Ray was transported via air to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. He is awake and alert in good condition. Ray has signs of a mild concussion, according to Indy Racing League Director of Medical Services Dr. Henry Bock.

The crash occurred in turn four of the 1.5-mile oval. The left side of Ray's Dallara made contact with the outside wall. Ray climbed from the car on his own.

Ray had run approximately 40 laps Monday in windy conditions.

Team Menard is sharing the Homestead-Miami Speedway with Team Cheever for a two-day private test that concludes Tuesday.
