USAC: Brighton, Stitle elections top USAC Board Agenda

Elections of new board members topped the agenda of the USAC Board of Directors at its recent annual meeting in Speedway, Ind.

Indiana business leaders W. Curtis Brighton and Steven A. Stitle have been elected to serve 3-year terms as Board Directors, replacing Reynold C. MacDonald and John Newcomb. MacDonald, as a past president of USAC, has been retained as Director Emeritus.

Mr. Brighton currently serves as Vice President and General Counsel of Hulman & Company, a Terre Haute, Ind.-based business having interests in manufacturing, real estate, banking, energy and automobile racing. He also serves as corporate attorney for Hulman & Company and various of its affiliated business enterprises, including the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where he holds the position of Vice President and General Counsel. A lifelong resident of Terre Haute, he and wife Linda have two sons, Andrew and Jimmy. A 1976 graduate of Indiana State University and a 1981 graduate of Drake University Law School, Mr. Brighton is also a member of numerous Indiana boards, foundations and other business and civic organizations.

Mr. Stitle is the chairman of the board and chief executive officer of National City Bank of Indiana and executive vice president of National City Corporation. He received degrees from Indiana University and its School of Law and also served in a variety of executive positions with Eli Lilly and Company for nearly a quarter-century. Still active in community affairs, he is a former chairman of the board of directors of the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce. In addition to his many commitments to various boards of directors he is also admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana and in Indiana and Washington. D.C.

The USAC Board also was presented and reviewed a report from the Strategic and Planning Committee and ratified recommendations from USAC's various competition committees.
