DETROIT- Championship Auto Racing Teams, Inc., has
secured the services of three regional public relations representatives to
assist in the promotion efforts of the racing body's North American
events.
Jaye Galloway, Kevin Wilkerson, and Brener Zwikel & Associates, Inc. will
supplement CART's public relations work in the race markets and increase
visibility among regional and local media year-round."We have seen significant results and media responses from CART's local public relations efforts, and we want to expand upon that through our regional representatives," said Pat Leahy, CART's senior vice president for marketing and communications. "By focusing on the specific race markets, we will be able to develop relationships with the media to help promote the races and the FedEx Championship Series on a continual basis."
The regional representatives will be responsible for building relationships in the race markets with the print and broadcast media, working closely with the race promoters. Each will develop a plan in conjunction with the individual race promoters, enhancing the current public relations efforts at each site. The representatives will maintain contact with the regional media throughout the year. They also will visit each venue prior to the season and be on hand in the market in the last weeks leading up to the race.
Wilkerson will work with the West Coast race promoters, including Long Beach, Portland, Vancouver, Laguna Seca, and Fontana. In addition, he will work with the Las Vegas, Phoenix, San Diego and Seattle media. Brener Zwikel & Associates' responsibilities include Mexico, Dallas, Milwaukee, Chicago, Road America, and Houston. Galloway will work the eastern third of the country and the races at Nazareth, Detroit, Cleveland, Toronto, Michigan, and Mid-Ohio.
Wilkerson has served in a similar capacity for CART during the past six seasons, and he assisted public relations efforts at the Long Beach, Laguna Seca, and Fontana races as a local public relations representative last year. Located in Manhattan Beach, Calif., he was a key element in CART's advance program from 1995-99 and works with various other clients in Southern California.
Steve Brener, of Brener Zwikel & Associates, Inc., along with account executive Jordan Miller will continue their work in the sports and auto racing fields. Based in Reseda, Calif., the group has promoted the California Speedway since its opening and has an extensive list of clients in the sports arena, including the National Football League and Super Bowl, SHOWTIME, several PGA, SENIOR PGA and LPGA TOUR events, and the MGM Mirage Resorts.
Galloway, who is based in Daytona Beach, Fla., most recently worked with NASCAR, serving as the manager of broadcast communications as well as doing advance work for the Craftsman Truck series. She also spent three years with ABC Sports, working as the motorsports liaison among other projects.
