ASA: Meijer Backs Go Go Motorsports

Tim Beane Hired as Crew Chief / General Manager

Lansing, Michigan- Go Go Motorsports has announced that Meijer Stores will serve as the teams primary sponsor for the 2001 ASA Racing season. Associate sponsors will include Meijer business partners, Edys Grand Ice Cream, Tonys Pizza and Kelloggs.

Meijer Inc., a chain of combination grocery and general merchandise stores in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Illinois, has become a recognizable sponsor in ASA over the past several seasons after sponsoring events in Michigan and other ASA teams.

"Im thrilled to be back with ASA for another season," says Go Go Motorsports owner Ron Daniels. "With Meijer and its partners, were ready to carry the names of these quality products and do our best to further their already great reputations."

The number 11 Go Go Pontiac Grand Prix entry will be driven by Michigan native Tristan Dupuis for a third consecutive season. The 37-year-old veteran finished runner-up in the 1999 final rookie points and was 15th in the final 2000 points standings. Lastseason, he also won the Miller Lite 300 on Labor Day at the Minnesota State Fair Speedway.

"We have a renewed relationship with Meijer and tacking on Kelloggs and Tonys Pizza, Im very optimistic about our season," said Dupuis. "Im proud to be working for such a great company and Im expecting a lot of good things in 2001."

Daniels also announced that 36 year old Tim Beane of Grafton (OH) has assumed duties as crew chief and general manager of the team.

"From a racing standpoint, hiring Tim will give me more time to assist in areas I see fit with our racing program," says Daniels.

Beane, who has worked with various Busch Grand National Series teams, has relocated to Lansing. "Tristan is a phenomenal driving talent," says Beane. "Ron and I believe we can take this operation to a championship level. ASA is a proven exciting environment for racing and well be hard at work to make our mark. We have plans to test at St. Augustine, Lakeland and Irwindale."

The 2001 ASA Racing season is scheduled to open on Saturday, February 17 at Florida Speed Park in St. Augustine, Florida. The event will be telecast live on TNN Sports starting at 9 p.m. (Eastern).
