MARTINSVILLE, VA--Tickets for the Advance Auto Parts 250 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Martinsville Speedway will go on sale Wednesday, Jan. 17.

The Advance Auto Parts 250 is scheduled for Saturday, April 7, the day before the Virginia 500 Winston Cup race at Martinsville Speedway. Bobby Hamilton is the defending champion for the Advance Auto Parts 250 after winning an action-packed event that saw nine caution flags and eight lead changes last spring.

This years Advance Auto Parts 250 will be the fourth event of the 2001 season, but it will be the first opportunity for fans in the Mid-Atlantic region to see the Craftsman Truck Series up close and personal. And there is no better place to watch the trucks than on Martinsvilles tight .526-mile oval.

"Martinsville is by far one of the trickiest place we run," said Joe Ruttman, who won Martinsvilles inaugural Craftsman Truck Series race in 1995.

"You gotta have patience there," said Jimmy Hensley, winner of the 1999 Advance Auto Parts 250. "If you get in a hurry at Martinsville, you get in trouble."

Ruttman and Hensley understand the excitement Martinsville offers. Ruttman won in 1995 when he drove past leaders Geoffrey Bodine and Mike Skinner as they crashed in the fourth turn with two laps to go.

Even though Hensley won the event in 1999, a year earlier a shot at victory slipped away when he and Ron Hornaday started beating and banging with a handful of laps to go. Jay Sauter shot past the two veterans for the win.

Tickets for the Advance Auto Parts 250 Truck race are $30. Tickets for children ages 6-12 are $5. There also still are plenty of excellent tower seats remaining for the Virginia 500.

Tickets can be purchased for both races by calling toll free at 1-877-722-3894. For more information about tickets and the events, visit www.martinsvillespeedway.com.
