Thomasville, North Carolina - The Wenatchee,
Washington-based Washington Apple Commission has announced that they will
be backing driver Ricky Bryant and his BG Motorsports team, as primary
sponsor for the 2001 season in the ASA ACDelco Series. This marks the
third straight year that Washington Apples will be Bryants primary
sponsor. They previously partnered with Bryant in the Goodys Dash
Series.Washington Apples Domestic Marketing Director, Jim Doherty felt that the ASA ACDelco Series was the perfect opportunity to implement many of the successful marketing strategies of the last 2 years, on a national basis. "We are thrilled to be marketing andcompeting in ASA," said Doherty. "It is a top notch professional racing series who can give Washington Apples the kind of national exposure we are looking for. We will be able to give our field staff excellent support as we partner with retail food stores all over the country."
Bryant intends to compete for the coveted Pat Schauer Memorial Rookie of the Year award when the ASA season begins on February 17 at Florida Speed Park in St. Augustine, Florida.
In 2000, Bryant began his ASA career by entering, successfully qualifying and competing in eight races.
Wesley Page will be returning for a third straight year to serve as Bryants crew chief in ASA. "Wes and I have been through a lot these last few years and the relationship we have built is a good one," said Bryant. "His commitment and loyalty to me and BG Motorsports means a lot. Having someone I am used to will be very important when we face the kind of tough competition that ASA offers," says Bryant. "In January I hope to test a couple of times at St. Augustine, Lakeland, and South Boston. If we had more time I would go to Irwindale (CA) Speedway. We plan to be as ready as we possibly can."
BG Motorsports is scheduled to unveil the number 35 Washington Apples ASA Pontiac Grand Prix at the Pennzoil 2001 Motorsports Show in Philadelphia on January 12, 13, and 14.
