Reynard Motorsport today announced that after seven years with the Company, Bruce Ashmore, President of North American Operations, leaves to join one of the top Champ Car Teams as Technical Director. Bruce was instrumental in establishing Reynard in the US CART Series and has provided the UK based race car constructor with considerable experience and expertise in this Championship.
Last year Ashmore was appointed President of North American Operations, but now wants to return to technical development and direct involvement with a team. Reynard Motorsport Chairman and CEO, Adrian Reynard, said "I want to thank Bruce for all his energies over the last seven years and wish him well with his future plans. I am sure he will continue pushing Reynard for technical improvement -but from a new perspective".
"Jeff Swartwout will take over Bruce's responsibilities as Head of Operations at Reynard North America," adds Reynard. "Jeff has been with Reynard since 1994 and has built up a strong rapport with all of our Teams, always wishing to provide them with the best service available. Dave Pitchforth will assume overall responsibility as Head of the Auto Research Center (ARC) facility, Reynard's windtunnel and 7 post test rig facility located in Indianapolis."
Pitchforth, who joined Reynard in 1997, has played a vital role in the success of the ARC, where many CART teams run aerodynamic and suspension dynamic rig test programmes. In recent months, he has also been responsible for setting up a new ARC facility in Mooresville NC. Dave is an experienced engineer with immense knowledge of the Champ Car project, through his previous career in rig test engineering and data acquisition, and is well suited to assume this post, especially with the current on-track test restrictions.
