MOORESVILLE, N.C.- Dream season.
Those are the two words that best sum up the 2000 season in the NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National Division for ppc Racing.
Teammates Jeff Green and Jason Keller finished one and two in the championship points standings. Between them, they racked up seven wins, seven poles and 46 top-10 finishes.
"ppc Racing accomplished some pretty amazing feats during the season," said general manager Keith Barnwell. "Jeff and Jason are both top-notch drivers and great people to work with. Not only that, but both teams have enjoyed unbelievable success in the past year. There's also an important chemistry between the two and their teams which has made our one-team, two driver approach such a success."
It's hard not to smile when Barnwell talks about the success of ppc Racing last season, but the 2000 season is over and ppc Racing has started concentrating on 2001.
For 2001, ppc Racing will be changing manufacturers by switching to Ford. Nestle Nesquik will return as the primary sponsor of Green's car, but Keller will have a new sponsor with Albertsons, Inc., the third largest food and drug chain in the country.
ppc Racing is also seeking additional associate sponsors during the off-season for Keller's No. 57 car as well as Green's No. 10 car. State Water Heaters had planned on returning for the 2001 season as a major associate sponsor. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the company will discontinue its racing program.
"It's an exciting time at ppc Racing," Barnwell said. "We're still celebrating the championship and Jason's runner-up finish, but the 2000 season is over; and we know that Daytona is just around the corner. Our goal is to occupy the same seats at the awards banquet for years to come."
