Northern Light IRL: Lazier, Hemelgarn Racing to cash in at Indy Racing awards gala

INDIANAPOLIS- Buddy Lazier will be crowned as the 2000 Indy Racing Northern Light Series champion at the annual Indy Racing Northern Light Series Awards Ceremony on Nov. 11 in Indianapolis. More than $2 million will be presented during the marquee night of celebration at The Murat Centre. ABC/ESPN sports broadcaster Bob Jenkins will be the host.
Lazier and his team owner, Ron Hemelgarn, will receive a $1 million bonus from Northern Light as the Northern Light Cup champion, a title they earned after posting two wins and three second-place finishes this season. Its the first championship for both.
In addition to the prestigious presentation of the Northern Light Cup, numerous Indy Racing drivers and personalities will be recognized for their efforts, including a special award to Airton Dare for earning the RaceSearch.com Rookie of the Year title.
Highlights from the Indy Racing Northern Light Series Awards Ceremony will be televised from 5-6 p.m. (EST) Nov. 14 on ESPN2.
