NASCAR BGN: Buckshot Jones thows away Homestead test effort; Takes new car to Florida

"We're bringing a totally different car to Homestead than what we tested there with three weeks ago. Homestead has the unique characteristics of being flat and really fast. The setup and driving style needed to run well at Homestead are unlike any other track we race at." --Buckshot Jones The Buckshot Racing team will be utilizing their only car with a Ronnie Hopkins chassis this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The car was last raced at Rockingham three weeks ago where Buckshot and the team finished 17th after starting 41st.
Buckshot Racing is pleased to be having the assistance of Mike Diaz, Jerry Poulette, Pam Wood, and Mark Woodcum in the pits for this weekend's Miami 300. All four members of the honorary pit crew team either work directly for Cheez-It (Keebler Co.), or are business associates of Cheez-It.
"Homestead can be pretty tough to get a handle on because of how windy it can be at times," said crew chief Cogswell. "You always have to keep the wind in mind at Homestead when making adjustments to the car because what works in turns one and two usually don't work in turns three and four."
Crew chief Gary Cogswell knows what it takes to get around Miami-Homestead Speedway. Cogswell was the crew chief for Mike McLaughlin in 1997 when the two teamed up to claim the pole for the NASCAR Busch Series race three years ago.
