Pro Spec Racer Honors Award Winners

SAN DIEGO, CALIF.- Following the season-finale at San Diego this past weekend, the Pro Spec Racer honored its champion and award winners at the annual year-end banquet.

Capturing top-honors this year was Warren Stilwell, of Harteville, Ohio. Stilwell had a fantastic season winning the championship at the season-finale on the San Diego street circuit with a sixth place finish.

Capturing a season-high five track records, five poles and three wins, Stilwell won his fourth championship in the seven-year history of the series. In addition to winning the championship, he took home more then $16,500 in prize money and extended the all-time series marks in wins and poles to 17 and 28 respectively. At the banquet, Stilwell was presented with a check for $4,400 and one set of Weld wheels. Stilwell remains the only driver to win the championship more then once.

Finishing second in the championship in 2000 was John Black, of Tahoe City, Calif. Black, had a break through season, capturing four podium finishes and his first-career win. After improving six spots in the championship from last year, Black was awarded the Great Expectations Most Improved Driver by his fellow drivers.

Completing the top-three in the championship was Bobby Sak, of W. Bloomfield, Mich. Sak, who won most improved driver last year, captured four podium finishes during the year including his first-career win.

In addition to the top-three in the championship, fourth, fifth, sixth and the Jim Derhaag Rookie of the Year were honored at the banquet. Finishing fourth, with three podium finishes and a win was Chris Funk, of Kansas City, Mo. In fifth place with three podium finishes and win was Keith Scharf, of St. Louis, Mo. With two podium finishes and win, Neil Tilbor, of New Smyrna, Fla,. finished sixth. Finishing eighth and winning one race, Seanin Hendricsen, of Phoeniz, Ariz., won the Rookie of the Year award.
