NASCAR BGN: Todd Bodine looks to end BGN season on high note

"Homestead is the last race of the season, so all the teams are trying to accomplish the same thing and that's to end the season on a high note. I've spent the last two seasons with this Phillips 66 team and it's been great. These guys gave 110 percent every week during the past two seasons and a driver can't ask for more than that. If we'd have had a little more luck on our side we'd have a few more wins. We're happy with what we've accomplished during the past two seasons and I'm going to miss these guys and the people at Phillips 66."-- Todd Bodine
Todd's Thoughts On Racing In Homestead . . . "We had a great race car in Homestead last year. We were running up front and we're one of the teams with a shot to win as the laps wound down. We got caught up in the last accident of the race and ended the day in 32nd place. We spent a few days testing in Homestead a couple weeks ago. We've run good at every track we did some testing this year so we hope that carries over to this weekend. Between our notes from last year and the notes we gathered at the test, we should be pretty good from the start of the weekend."
The Equipment . . . "Gambler" is the Phillips 66 Chevy that Bodine will compete with this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway. "Gambler" is making just its third appearance of the 2000 NASCAR Busch Series season. "Gambler" made its debut at Las Vegas where Bodine started the event in fifth place and lead a few laps en route to a fourth-place finish. "Gambler" also appeared at Pikes Peak International Raceway.
Last Weekend In Phoenix . . . Bodine was able to close the gap between himself and Kevin Harvick in the battle for third place in the NASCAR Busch Series driver points standings last weekend. The Phillips 66 team started the "Outback Steakhouse 200" in 37th place and picked up 25 positions to finish the day in 12th place. Bodine trails Harvick by five points in the driver standings as the NASCAR Busch Series prepares for its season finale in Homestead.
"We didn't have a great race car in Phoenix, but we had great pit work which was key," Bodine said. "The Phillips 66 team had great pit stops and gained positions on pit road every time we stopped. The car was pretty tight all day. Donnie (Richeson) kept adjusting on it, but we never could get it just right. We're five points out of third place so we'll go to Homestead and try to finish a couple positions ahead of (Kevin) Harvick so we can finish the season third in the points."
