A lot of excitement will surround the Pro Stock Truck class at the season finale. Bob Panella has already won the Championship and no driver in the class can catch Randy Daniels for the bridesmaid spot. However, the battle for the third through tenth is heated.
John Coughlin is resting in the No. 3 spot. He has 794 points and is leading Steve Johns by a mere 17 points in a battle for the No. 3 position in the NHRA Winston Championship.
"We want to end this weekend with both of our Jeg's Mail Order Chevy S-10's in the top five in points," said John. "Our entire program is up to the challenge and we are ready to go to battle when we get to Pomona."
Mike Coughlin is holding down the No. 6 spot in the NHRA Winston Championship. He has 652 points and is 70 points behind Greg Stanfield in a battle for the No. 5 position.
"The key to both John and I doing well this weekend is getting on opposite sides of the ladder," explained Mike. "If that happens we both will control our own destiny and have the opportunity to meet in the final round. Not to mention gain the most possible points."
