(Charlotte, NC)--Chef Boyardee, nationally renowned pasta
products
recently acquired by ConAgra Foods, Inc. has renewed its associate
sponsorship of Joe Gibbs Racings NASCAR Winston Cup program through the
end of the 2001 season. The success of the program with consumers and
retailers, which includes using team drivers Tony Stewart and Bobby
Labonte in television commercials, led to the renewal of sponsorship.
"We are extremely happy with our sponsorship of Joe Gibbs Racing," said David Roe, Senior V.P. and General Manager of Chef Boyardee. "We have created an integrated program that has proven to be very popular with retailers and consumers." Roe said research shows a substantial increase in consumption volume compared to the same time last year. "When you add the sales increase to the great year that the racing team is having," said Roe, "it equals a successful sponsorship program."
Team owner Joe Gibbs said finding the right company for your team is the key to a good sponsorship program. "There are a lot of good sponsors out there, and a lot of good sponsorship opportunities but they are not necessarily right for each other," said Gibbs. "With Chef Boyardee, we have a text book scenario where great teamwork and the right chemistry between all parties make a successful program. Tony Stewart, Bobby Labonte and I are all heavily involved with the Company, from advertising to hospitality; they will be with us for a long time."
While everyone on the team is glad to have Chef Boyardee renew its sponsorship, Tony Stewart is particularly pleased because it extends his long relationship with one of his favorite things -- food!
"I am pleased they have chosen to extend their partnership with Joe Gibbs Racing for several reasons, the first being I love their food! It is a well-known fact that for several years, Chef Boyardee has been a staple in my diet and I am of the opinion that if something is working well, don't change it!" said Stewart, who has won five NASCAR Winston Cup races this season. "Seriously, we have enjoyed a very mutually beneficial relationship for the past year. Everyone at Joe Gibbs Racing works hard to ensure our sponsors are happy. It is great to know that the Company is pleased with the partnership and is going to continue as a part of our #20 Home Depot Pontiac and the #18 Interstate Batteries teams for 2001."
